DELTA SIGMA THETA SWEEPS THE CIRCLE CITY CLASSIC

INDIANAPOLIS, IN Oct. 4, 2008 – Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Indianapolis Alumnae Chapter Step Team swept the competition earning their second straight win at both the American Family Circle City Classic Parade and the Circle City Classic Greek Step Down, held at the Indiana Convention Center.

Delta Sigma Theta emerged victorious as the 1st place winners in Division I of the American Family Circle City Classic Parade. Under the leadership of Classic Committee Chair, Carolyn Sanders, the presentation included over 130 participants, a parade step team, and featured two floats including a fire truck and a 53 foot flatbed truck filled with sorority members bearing balloons and banners.

The Indianapolis Alumnae Chapter received the 1st place distinction for the second year in a row.

Later that evening, the Indianapolis Alumnae Chapter Step Team, under the leadership of Step Committee Chair Janai S.A. Downs, participated in the Greek Step Down and won $2500, proudly used to support several Indianapolis Alumnae Chapter programs and initiatives.

This presentation, CHICAGO, included every element an audience wanted to see during a step show. These creative women have successfully combined precise stepping with theatre style musical dance, video technology, costume and props, and a great use of the theme derived from the movie CHICAGO in yet another, trend-setting performance.

The Step Team returned to defend their title, and this year defeated six other fraternity teams to pull out the 1st place win.

The Step Team plans to continue competing throughout the classic and homecoming season with their CHICAGO-themed show to continue to earn money for Chapter programs, which benefit the Indianapolis community.
